Intel has no deal with SiFive, has terminated talks

Bloomberg News reported on October 21, citing people familiar with the matter, that Intel’s acquisition talks with SiFive have ended without an agreement, and the chip design startup will turn to outside investment. The two companies were reportedly unable to agree on financial terms and talks broke down.

Intel declined to comment on the report, while SiFive said it would not comment on speculation but confirmed it would continue to be Intel’s partner in new chip designs.

In June, a source told Reuters that Intel was discussing the possibility of acquiring SiFive, a company closely related to an open-source technology called RISC-V that is challenging the rise of Intel rival Arm.
