Major operators’ 5G messaging sharing platform will be launched at the end of this year or early next year

The commercialization of 5G messages is accelerating. The reporter of “Economic Information Daily” learned that based on interconnection and commercialization of 5G messages, China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom will share a platform, which will be launched at the end of this year or early next year.

At present, my country’s 5G message standardization work is steadily advancing, and a series of standards such as “5G Message General Technical Requirements”, “5G Message Terminal Technical Requirements” and “5G Message Terminal Test Methods” have been submitted for approval. In terms of market performance, on December 17, the Flush Shun 5G concept sector rose 0.89%. In terms of individual stocks, Shenzhou Taiyue rose 6.17% and Monternet Group rose 2.41%.

The commercialization of 5G messages continues to accelerate

There are indications that the commercialization of 5G messages is accelerating.

Recently, Montnets Group released the “Tianhui·5G Message Platform”, which is the first to integrate 5G messaging, video messaging, and industry messaging, and implement messaging as a service based on 5G standards. Prior to this, the three major operators have successively disclosed tenders for 5G messaging systems, marking that 5G messaging has entered a substantive stage. A few days ago, Fu Guoqiang, a senior engineer at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, wrote that China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom have all begun large-scale deployment of 5G messaging, and 5G messaging is expected to become one of the first 5G applications seen by individual users.

Fu Guoqiang said that as the operator’s messaging services are becoming saturated today, the landing of 5G messaging is a new driving force for the development of the telecommunications market. In terms of telecom operators, my country’s three basic telecom companies have all entered the stage of current network deployment. Among them, China Mobile’s construction speed is relatively fast, and the network-side functions are basically ready for commercial use; China Telecom and China Unicom are relatively lagging, but with the help of leading 5G messaging equipment companies such as ZTE and Huawei, commercial conditions will soon be available.

It is understood that the commercial use of 5G messages will be a platform shared by three operators. An industry insider revealed to a reporter from the Economic Information Daily that the commercialization of 5G messages will be based on interconnection. China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom share a single messaging platform. At the end of each year, based on their respective platform visits Unified settlement. The platform is currently in progress, and it is planned to be launched at the end of this year or early next year at the latest. When asked why the three major operators share a message platform, insiders in the industry analyzed that the main purpose is to achieve interconnection and industry win-win.

There are also new developments in 5G messaging standards. Fu Guoqiang revealed in his article that my country’s 5G message standardization work is progressing steadily. He himself took the lead in formulating the “5G Message General Technical Requirements” and the other two standards “5G Message Terminal Technical Requirements” and “5G Message Terminal Test Methods”. Approval, which indicates that the series of standards have already played the role of guiding enterprises in the practice of 5G messaging.

The industry chain welcomes new opportunities

According to the “5G Message White Paper” previously released by the three major operators, in the commercial process of 5G messages, operators will work together to create a standard, open, and win-win ecosystem. Institutions and industry insiders said that the participants in the 5G message industry chain mainly include terminal manufacturers, telecom operators, application development companies, and industry customer companies. As more and more users join, the upstream and downstream of the industry chain will benefit from it.

GSMA data shows that the current global space for A2P SMS (app SMS) is 60 billion U.S. dollars and is expected to grow to 90 billion U.S. dollars by 2021, while the market space of RCS may be greater than 150 billion U.S. dollars. According to Dongxing Securities’ calculations, by 2030, my country’s 5G messaging market will be about 100 billion yuan, which is about 2.6 times the revenue of the national mobile short message service in 2019. It has a broad market development space and will benefit operators, industry users and terminals. Participants such as manufacturers.

Huatai Securities believes that the commercial use of 5G messages is expected to help operators develop new profit models for their traditional SMS services. In terms of ecological construction, operators and partners share the benefits of business development and work with the industry to expand the ecological scale, which is expected to release the long-term value of the industry. A-share listed companies in the industrial chain may usher in opportunities.

Currently, upstream and downstream enterprises in the industry chain are accelerating relevant deployments and fully supporting the commercial use of 5G messages. In addition to telecom operators, in terms of mobile terminals, many domestic mobile phone manufacturers have a strong willingness to participate. It is understood that mobile phones from brands such as Huawei, Xiaomi, and Samsung have all passed the 5G messaging function test.

As for application development companies, the current domestic SDK vendors and leading SP companies have begun application development. Especially for SP companies as channel providers, in addition to Monternet Group’s “Tianhui·5G Message Platform”, Taiyue Shenzhou also released the “Taiyue 5G Message Cloud Platform” to promote the industry application of 5G messages.

Insiders believe that 5G news will have an impact on social apps such as WeChat. Dongxing Securities analyst Wang Jianhui said that 5G messaging will surpass WeChat in terms of basic functions. Social apps need to authenticate each other and add contacts to send messages, while 5G messages are sent by recognizing the recipient’s mobile phone number, which will have the function of real-name registration and promote the mobile phone number ecosystem (compared to WeChat Moments, WeChat Moments and WeChat Moments). In addition, 5G messages can provide faster transmission speed and have more advantages in transmission efficiency.
