According to a report released by the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA) on March 19, China’s 5G penetration rate is expected to reach 47% by 2025, much higher than the global level.
The capital expenditure of Chinese operators based on mobile business will reach 180 billion US dollars, of which about 90% will be used for 5G network construction. The GSMA report predicts that there will be 1.8 billion devices connected to 5G networks worldwide by 2025. China leads the way in 5G adoption.
It is estimated that by 2025, the number of 5G connections in China will reach 807 million. From 2020 to 2025, Chinese operators are expected to spend $180 billion in mobile-based capital expenditures, of which about 90% will be used for 5G network construction. Si Han, President of GSMA Greater China, said: “China is in a leading position in the early development of 5G, and has deployed more than 160,000 5G base stations, covering more than 50 cities. At the same time, operators are also working on expanding the coverage and capacity of 5G networks. , and promote the deployment of independent networking.” Si Han said that telemedicine, remote office, online education, disaster relief and protection and urban management can all see the continuous emergence of new information technology applications such as 5G.
“The accelerated development of 5G will help China’s economy and society to become more digitalized, networked and intelligent.” Guan Zhou, general manager of public policy for GSMA Greater China, introduced that China, as a 5G leader, is expected to use millimeters in its 5G network. wave band. The economic benefits from the use of mmWave bands in China are projected to have an effect of approximately US$104 billion by 2034, accounting for about half of the estimated contribution of mmWave bands in the Asia-Pacific region.
At an online forum hosted by the GSMA, Wang Zhiqin, vice president of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, said that 2020 will be a year of large-scale 5G construction in China. CAICT will hold the third “Blooming Cup” 5G Application Collection Competition in 2020. In addition to increasing capital expenditures by operators, a number of 5G industry chain companies are gearing up to prepare for 5G commercial use in terms of technology and capacity. ZTE said that from 2019 to 2021, it will continue to increase investment in research and development to maintain its leadership in 5G technology. ZTE announced that it will raise funds of about 11.5 billion yuan, and will comprehensively increase 5G research and development and project implementation, so as to prepare technical reserves for the peak of 5G construction in 2020.
Sobeide plans to raise no more than 680 million yuan, which will be used for 5G base station and terminal antenna expansion construction projects, vehicle integrated smart antenna upgrade and expansion projects, 5G cooling component construction projects and supplementary working capital. Xinwei Communication plans to raise no more than 3 billion yuan for the RF front-end device project, 5G antenna and antenna component project and wireless charging module project.
Tianfu Communication plans to raise no more than 786 million yuan, which will be used for high-speed optical engine construction projects for 5G and data centers after deducting relevant issuance expenses.
